Dave’s 10 Favorite 2021 Films!

I will NOT be posting my Oscar predictions this year.  Due to COVID, I haven’t been to the movie theater much and I have no feel for the nominations in all the categories.  I also didn’t agree with the Academy’s choices on about 1/2 of the Best Picture Nominees.  I have also reviewed all of the films nominated for Best Picture, so all the bases are covered.

(You can click on any title in the following lists to see my take on them!)

Here’s my Top 10 List:

  1. West Side Story
  2. Belfast
  3. Coda
  4. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
  5. King Richard
  6. The Harder They Fall
  7. Munich – The Edge of War
  8. F9
  9. Stillwater
  10. Things Heard and Seen

My Honorable Mentions:

  1. Kimi
  2. Marry Me
  3. The Tragedy of Macbeth
  4. Being the Ricardos
  5. Pig

Other Best Picture Nominees:

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
