This film was released in 2018, but I somehow missed it.  It’s now on Netflix, and my oldest son, Ryan, recommended it to me.  I usually don’t review old movies, but this one is special.  It’s a sci-fi suspense/revenge/thriller with an interesting message about A.I.  It’s creative, fast-paced, and has all kinds of twists and turns.  It’s violent, so if you aren’t into that, then I’d pass on it.  I was on the edge of my seat (as were Robin, Noah, and Michael) the whole time!

We are well into the future.  Grey Trace, played by Logan Marshall-Green, is a non-computerized car mechanic.  He is a rare individual who shuns computers in this highly-computerized world.  On the way home from a date, while making out with his wife in her self-driving car, the car malfunctions and crashes.  The crash occurs in a bad neighborhood.  Instead of being rescued and sent to the hospital, there are criminals at the scene of the accident.  They shoot and kill Grey’s wife, and sever Grey’s spinal cord, leaving him a quadriplegic.

Grey’s friend Eron, played by Harrison Gilbertson, is a computer genius.  He is rich and the CEO of a successful, hi-tech company.  He has invented a chip called “Stem.”  He informs Grey that if he implants “Stem” into his brain, then he will regain all his functioning.  He is by-passing the FDA, so this would be confidential.  Grey doesn’t like the idea of becoming computerized, but, considering the alternative, he agrees.  After successful surgery, regaining the use of his body, Grey embarks on a mission to exact revenge, although he is being pursued by police officer Cortez, played by Betty Gabriel, who suspects that he is no longer a quadriplegic.

The movie is exciting and the sci-fi stuff is interesting and creative.  It’s a mystery finding out who the killers are, who hired them, and why he and his wife were targeted.  If you want to watch an exciting action film, this one is a winner.  I wouldn’t miss it, unless you don’t watch violent films.

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
