I’ve seen 3 of the “Furious” series, and this latest one had a good review.  Robin was doing her own thing, so my 16-year-old (Noah) and I decided to see “Furious 7” on Saturday night after the Wisconsin/Kentucky basketball game. You may be wondering ‘What must be so great about these movies that they’ve made 7 of them?’

These films are a must if you like mano-a-mano fights, multi-men shoot-outs, explosions, beautiful girls walking on the beach with mini-bikinis, and really cool car stunts and chases.

This movie was one of the better ones of the franchise, if you can suspend disbelief… since almost every action sequence is absurd.  (I couldn’t care less, it’s fun!)

Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family are being hunted down by Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) who wants revenge because Dominic killed his younger brother in the prior movie.  (Ian is a terrific villain.)  A covert US operation unit also wants to take Shaw down.  Dominic and his crew team up with these guys to get Shaw, but the plans to eliminate him are incredibly complex and extremely risky, such as dropping their vehicles out of a plane with parachutes and landing onto a narrow mountain road.

The film is about 20 minutes too long (137 minutes), but the plot is good and there’s plenty of action and suspense. Dominic’s brother-in-law, Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), has a prominent role in the film, despite Paul’s tragic death from an automobile accident last year.

If you are a fan of the series, you will enjoy this entry. If you’ve never seen one and are curious why this film is breaking records at the box office, check it out.  It’s a big-screen movie and won’t work nearly as well as a rental.  If you don’t like it, however, please don’t get “furious” with me.

Rating-7.5 – good movie, worth a trip to the BS.

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
