Career women will almost certainly enjoy this film, but it has enough going for it that most men will probably like it, too.  It was written, directed, and produced by women.

Naomi Bishop (Anna Gunn – “Breaking Bad”) is a successful Investment Banker.  She is in her 40’s and has sacrificed much in her personal life to get where she is, but she is still very ambitious and wants to rise even higher.  She “loves money” and “doesn’t think it should be a dirty word”!  Unfortunately, in her last IPO (Initial Public Offering) she “ruffled some feathers” and now needs to re-establish herself.  She relies a great deal on her associate, Erin (Sarah Megan Thomas), who will do almost anything her job requires, often at considerable personal cost.

Naomi is taking a promising privacy/security company public, but she has serious concerns that the business may not be as impervious to hackers as it claims.  Her firm could be sued if the company’s claims are fraudulent.

It’s a cut-throat world and you can be betrayed by anyone at any time.  I won’t reveal any more about the plot, but the movie becomes quite suspenseful as Naomi encounters several unanticipated obstacles.

The film is well-written and consistently entertaining.  I think “Equity” is a Buy!

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
