Dave’s Favorite Films For 2022

I will not make any Oscar predictions this year.  I’m fed up with their nominations, some of which are absurd (at least in my humble opinion).  In this post, I will list my ten favorite films for 2022.  Please click the links for the complete reviews.

  1. Top Gun: Maverick – My favorite action movie since “Total Recall”
  2.  Avatar: The Way of Water – Incredible cinematography and CGI
  3.  The Fabelmans – Spielberg’s childhood is interesting and complex.
  4.  Vengeance – My favorite screenplay-very funny and suspenseful
  5.  The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent – Very funny – Nicholas Cage at his best
  6.  The Worst Person in the World – Unheralded gem
  7.  Tar – Kate Blanchett is terrific but she will probably lose to Michelle Yeoh
  8.  Women Talking – Best screenplay of the Oscar Best Picture nominees
  9.  The Black Phone – Very Creative and Emotionally Compelling Ghost Horror Film
  10.  Emily the Criminal – Aubrey Plaza’s movie

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
