Written and Directed by Wes Anderson, this film is a quirky, whimsical farce.

The concierge of the hotel (M. Gustave-Ralph Fiennes) is a man who takes service very seriously, including having sex with the lonely older women patrons.

Gustave becomes the mentor to a Lobby Boy (Zero-Tony Revolori) who many years later winds up the owner of the hotel.

Gustave inherits a valuable painting from an appreciative recently deceased elderly female patron which prompts her main heir Dmitri (Adrien Brody) on a quest to find the painting and eliminate Gustave!

The film tells how Zero eventually winds up owning the hotel, via a dinner conversation (with  long flashbacks) between Jude Law(young writer-who will eventually write a book chronicling the tale) and Mr. Moustafa (the Lobby Boy as an older man).

The movie isn’t laugh out loud funny but it is consistently amusing and will make you smile often.

It  also has an all star cast including Bill Murray, Ed Norton, and Owen Wilson, among others.

If you enjoyed Anderson’s most recent film ” Moonlight Kingdom” you will probably like this one too.

Rating-8.0- Very Good Movie
