If you are a fan of 007, you will enjoy this film, which I would rate about average for a James Bond movie.  The best thing about the movie is the torrid chemistry between Daniel Craig (James Bond) and Lea Seydoux (Madeline Swann).  The movie has more plot and character development and less action and special effects than usual, which I also consider a plus, but it’s about 30 minutes too long and drags at times.

Denbigh (Andrew Scott) is a young, arrogant computer whiz who wants to eliminate the 007 program in favor of a super-computer, which he thinks can make the U.K. much safer.  He even wants the Western countries to collaborate and all join into the same super-computer system.  It’s your 1984 worst nightmare, only now even Big Brother has a Big Brother! The new M (Ralph Fiennes) is opposed to Denbigh’s plan, but he doesn’t have enough power to stop him.

The former M (Judi Dench), before she was killed, warned James about a powerful clandestine organization and gave Bond the mission to uncover and neutralize it.  This organization is Spectre, run by the evil genius (is there ever any other kind!), Franz Oberhauser – a.k.a. Ernst Blofeld (Christoph Waltz). While seeking out Spectre, Bond promises Swann’s father that he will protect Madeline from the Spectre and convinces her to join up with him.

Will Bond finally best Blofeld?  Will Bond and Swann fall in love?  You will need to see it to find out!

I have loved the movies ever since I saw “The Wizard of Oz” as a young boy. When Beatle-mania hit the USA, Rock-N-Roll was my greatest passion, but I haven’t enjoyed the current music scene nearly as much over the past 15 years, so that void has been filled by film. In college and med school, I would see movies with my friends and we would stay up late into the night chatting about them. I still love seeing movies with friends and then having dinner to discuss them. This blog evolved out of my desire to tell my movie-loving friends about movies I thought they would enjoy. The blog allows me to do this in a fun way and to reach movie fans everywhere.
